Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, Psalm 127 : 3 |

WHY? Our dependence on diesel fuel costs over
$600 a month. Our 24 hour needs for
fans, lights and refrigeration can easily be met and uninterrupted with solar. The generator will then be used
for motors (wash, pumps, power tools) used during the working hours, as well
as charging the battery bank for security lighting. Our goal is to slash fossil fuel costs in
half and add life to our generator. |

Our church
on Christmas day was adorned with Jesus and
all the kids’ stuffed animals. |

We were beyond words to see
a new washer and a refrigerator! We
have been living out of this igloo cooler for over three years now. We bought ice every three days until we received
a freezer a year ago. |

Trisha built a duplex out of the boxes,
which were the hit for about a month!
We thank two very special sisters from Edisto. You have made life much easier for us. |

…..don’t
feel like you can help because you can’t spare the money? There’s Prayer and we need lots
of it! Please pray for that we receive the money we need to
continue. Pray for the health and
happiness of the children. Pray for us
for patience in waiting and working this ministry. Praise God for all He has bestowed on
us. We are ever-so-aware that people
pray for us. We see evidence daily. |

Common needs like water for drinking, cooking and
cleaning and electricity for lighting, washing, refrigerating and ventilating
consume one person’s work for at least 2 hours every day, that is
the production of water and electricity! The tank on the top of the
house has to be filled every other day (90 minutes). It’s not just switches. Pumps and hoses need to be moved and power cords changed and moved. Nothing can be left out here because the
chances of someone scaling the wall at night and steal such items is a never
ending threat. We crash sometimes at night so
physically whipped and all we have done is maintain the day…...there is
little extra time for the things we want to do and need to be done. We need money to make these systems less
work and our time more productive at our new home. |

We really want to hold up two churches and two
families in prayer for their support for the last two Christmas
celebrations. We had precious few toys
for a long time and these folks came through, where our budget can’t. The Milk’s family and St Mark’s came
through with individualized outfits for each child. We use them as their “church clothes”. St. Mark’s has supplied every child here
with stuffed animals, which by the way, adorned our altar at Christmas with
the baby Jesus. St. Benedict’s
followed suit again in 2007 with individual outfits, individual toys, puzzles
galore and has more than met our needs
for bed linens and towels. The Lyons
family and Walton Salley gave me money
in 2006 with which I purchased tricycles, building blocks, trucks and other
long term durable toys. These are used
every day of the week. God bless you……God thank
you……. God bless you! |

When we occupy our new digs in Lachapelle,
we will begin a program of childrens’ Bible instruction to kids, 6 to 12 in
our community during the afternoons after school. We are stable as a family and
will add to it as the Lord guides us as He has. We are missionaries and the expansion of
Gods’ kingdom is primarily what our calling is. We will feed, play and instruct little
minds and bodies and bring along some
children (and hopefully some adults) to share the salvation offered by
Christ. Like
the family we have, we started on the faith that the Lord would provide the
way in which we progress as a ministry.
It is a very exciting time for us and we feel the Holy Spirit moving
us. |

We want mission teams to
provide for and drive a VBS-like activity at Kay Konfo. Let’s map out a theme and activities to
support that theme for a four day Bible School. Basically set up a three hour session,
with four rotating groups of children for art, storytelling, gameplaying,
singing and acting non-verbal drama skits that drive home the day’s
lesson. It may well result is running
two sessions a day to keep the group or groups small enough for impact and
control…..and it is capped off by a meal.
Can you visualize it? I’ve done
these with teens for little ones and they are fun, fun, FUN! We have the resources from audio-visuals to
interpreters. You can resource stuff
from home. Email me, (Ray) and let’s
see what we can put together.

We make our own bread and I would love for this machine
to replace my arms! It’s a seven quart
Hamilton Beach mixer and it $420 through Amazon. This one has an 800 watt motor and
strength to last. I wouldn’t complain
about a used one though! We go through 15 loaves a week. |

In
the fall, we will begin school at Kay Konfo for our children. This is vitally important to our goals and
mission to the family we have assembled.
We have been here long enough to know that home school will insure
that we can build children with good Christian character and the skills
needed to succeed when they leave here. We
have a few children that have learning disabilities and we believe we can
serve all our children better with school at home. There will be subjects we intend to teach
them along with their Haitian curriculum, so they may pass their national
tests. We also need to teach them
living skills that their parents would have taught them and since we are
essentially building a working farm, that will be second nature for them. Although we could do with more money, we
wish for somebody or “some buddies” to underwrite this for $3000. |
