Completed to date—

Construction

We started fund driving and building our new home over 28 months ago and have collected about $24,000 of the $80,000 needed to complete the work, which is central to our evangelical plans.   It is basically me - Ray and six Haitian men.  We’ve had a few instances of stolen material and lately vandalism which is getting costly.  We need to push forward in a big way so that we can occupy the land and protect our investment and move forward with a stronger evangelistic thrust.  This building would cost in excess of $300,000+ if we contracted it out.  What you see in the pictures above is about a $24,000, because we’re resourceful and I’m able to do it myself.  At present, we are at a standstill and we have nothing for building and are barely holding our own for operating expenses. Please keep us working and get us working on the real mission of bringing people to Christ.

Now across from the court yard is our Garden which we have erected a barb wire fence and planted “kandilam” which is a rapid growing cactus, which the Haitians use to fence and keep goats out of the gardens.  We hate to miss another growing season, but this too shall pass.

In November we began work on the water tower which will house the generator on the first floor, a water purification system on the second floor and clean water storage of the third floor for pressure to the house and grounds.  We have 4 solar panels so far which will be set up on the roof and will seek more as funds or donations permit to wean ourselves from too much diesel fuel!  Momma insisted on the castle-look on top!

August 2009

Here’s a photo from a year ago showing all the little short walls between the archways to be installed.  Now check the upper photo and see they are all gone to vandalism.

All in God’s time…..

The water tower sure does allow for some dramatic photos!  The septic was completed before Christmas.  We finished the support beams for the extension of the second floor which will be Trisha’s and my small apartment adjoining all the childrens’ bedrooms on the second floor.   We poured a concrete floor on 1/3 of the interior floor space and our next step will be to complete the long wall and second story floor, install doors on the three rooms and move in!  That’s right! We need to stop paying rent and protect what we have as vandalism has become too frequent.
